1999 Sifu Camp

This marks the 3rd annual Leadership camp for the American Chinese Martial Arts Federation.

1999 Sifu Camp

Members of the Federation's sifu committees converged on central Florida this October for the Third Annual American Chinese Martial Arts Federation Sifu Camp. Sifus of the Federation take time from their busy schedules to meet once a year to discuss Federation matters, including the induction of new members into the ACMAF sifu family.

1999 Sifu Camp

This year Eight Step Preying Mantis Kung Fu and Shyun Style Tai Chi Chuan were fortunate to qualify eight new individuals as competent to offer these rare styles of martial arts to the world community. The federation continues to grow with new, highly qualified sifus to spread the offerings of the ACMAF throughout the country and the soon the world.

1999 Sifu Camp

Some of the attending sifus took advantage of the entertainment opportunities available in Florida by arriving a few days prior to the start of the camp. Members, with the help of the Federations newest friend Yoki Lee, toured Universal Studio's Islands of Adventure and Disney World's several theme parks. Many of the members in attendance were regularly caught unawares with the numerous opportunities to get very, very wet at Islands of Adventure.

Beautiful weather and great company made the several baths we had endurable. As seems to be a Federation mainstay of subsistence on these outings, all the members, including our newest inductees, learned to spell BUFFET, in big capital letters. Some of us are wondering if this may become a future requirement for Federation membership.

1999 Sifu Camp

As is expected of the leaders of the Federation, matters turned to a serious nature at the start of the camp. Officers were elected and committees were formed and reformed. Sifu Kevin Loftus was elected the new U.S. Representative of the ACMAF with Sifu Jack Skutnik being elected Vice Representative. Sifu Thanh Van was tapped to lead the finance committee and Sifu Tosh Stone will head the media committee. Sifu George Lizjak is now the senior representative of the education committee.

Gratitude goes out from Grandmaster Shyun and all of the sifus who attended the Third Annual Sifu Camp, to Sifu Thanh Van and his family and Sifu Tom Sambora and his family for their inexhaustible hospitality. Sifus, new and seasoned, were made to feel right at home for the duration of our stay in Florida. Again, our thanks go out to all who made us feel so welcome.

With the conclusion of this years camp, the sifus of the ACMAF set out with their new responsibilities, sites aimed high and looking forward to next years camp in Sioux City, IA.
